Single Storey Rear Extension and Front Bay Extension
We were approached by our client, a family with urgent need for more space.
They had looked at the possibility of moving house but when the costs were compared, it was a much better option to stay in their current house and extend it to cope with their growing needs.
Initially a 3 bedroom semi detached property with integral garage, they had previously had a conservatory added to the rear. Like many of our clients who are finding that a conservatory isn’t as practical for them as they had hoped being too cold in winter and too hot in summer, they had made the bold move to carefully take down the conservatory (and sell it onwards for a bit of cash towards the extension) and build a brick and mortar extension in its place that would be usable all year round.
This would take the form of a single storey but would serve as a family room, somewhere for the kids to play.
At the same time they wanted to extend the front window forward to match the way the garage currently sits forward. This would create an extra 1m length to the lounge.
Finally, as many people are doing, a study/4th bedroom was to be created in the garage. This was a simple process of infilling the garage door opening with a window to match the lounge, raising and insulating the floor and lining the walls to ensure it was up to current thermal standards.
All approvals were granted with no problems and work soon started, 8 weeks after we first measured the house.
Currently ongoing on site, we have had praise from both the client and builder who has expressed a desire to use our services for projects he is likely to take on in future.
